Message JarvisBox (Nextcloud) “File removed from serverâ€

What is it?

The JarvisBox sync light is red and when you access the JarvisBox settings an error message "Deleted file from server" / “Service is unavailable†appears if you are on Windows, or "CSync..." if you are on Mac.

Why?

This message may occur when one user has deleted, renamed, or moved a file locally in their JarvisBox directory but the information is not properly traced back to JarvisDrive, or when a user has renamed the directory of a Folder directly, without renaming the File itself.

How to solve the situation?

  1. Open JarvisBox settings (see article “Open the JarvisBox app)

  2. Read the error messagein its entirety, and in particular the JarvisDrive subdirectory containing blocked files or directories

  3. Log in to the Folder to identify itsManager

  4. Ask the File Manager todelete the blocking file in its JarvisDrive.

    For this the Manager must:

    1. Getting to theJarvisDrivethrough the left menu of the software

    2. Searchthe directory of the Folder by typing the name of the Folder in the search bar

    3. find the file to delete

    4. Delete the file
If the actions described above did not resolve the synchronization error contact Customer Service (see below).

How can we avoid that this happens again?

The following good practices should be applied:
  1. Do not directly rename the JarvisDrive/JarvisBox directory of a Folder: go directly through theamendment of the Filein itself (see article)Edit an existing folderof the Help Center)

  2. Limit theaccess to the JarvisDrive/JarvisBox directoryof the File only to the Stakeholders of the latter to avoid the spread of errors to other positions (see articleShare a file with other members of your practice with JarvisDriveof the Help Center)

  3. Avoid having several members of the company work on the same File at the same time.
